-Poor saxophone intonation is caused by various reasons such as improper mouthpiece or
reed, poor embouchure, or problem with allignment.
-Students should be instructed to pull their shoulders down and back to allow more air as
possible.
-For proper embouchure, the jaw should be dropped, the teeth should be in contact with
the top of the mouthpiece, and the throat should be in a "yawning" position. If possible,

negatively affect the tunings. Composer Timothy Broege suggests using a "fast and
narrow" vibrato to make the sound clearer and with a band ensemble, this vibrato
technique would blend in well with the horn and the oboe.
